What does vegan mean?

To be a vegan means to not eat or use any animal by-products. Veganism is a lifestyle that one chooses for themselves. There is a version of veganism to suit everyone. Yet one thing all have in common is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey – as well as products like leather and any tested on animals.

Why have a vegan menu?

Preventing the exploitation of animals is not the only reason for becoming vegan, but for many it remains the key factor in their decision to go vegan and stay vegan. Having emotional attachments with animals may form part of that reason, while many believe that all sentient creatures have a right to life and freedom. Specifics aside, avoiding animal products is one of the most obvious ways you can take a stand against animal cruelty and animal exploitation everywhere. However, there are many other reasons why going vegan is a beneficial decision which you may like to read more about.

At GAIA, we have acknowledged the choice many of our valuable guests have taken to follow a vegan diet and as we do want everyone to feel special at GAIA – our full vegan menu will offer you fabulous options to dine with friends and family that may not be vegan.
